character.name: Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV (all she knows is that part of her name is a family maiden name)
nickname(s): Known to just about everyone as Ed, goes by Radical Edward online
pb: Bryce Dallas Howard
fairy tale & character: Cowboy Bebop/Ed
age: 23 (turns 24 on November 11th)
office: A205
preferred method of treatment: IT professional
specializes in: IT, in grad school as a psychology/computer science major.
personality: Ed is your classic free spirit: both mega upbeat with a constant smile on her face along with some serious brain power to match. She also has her own set of quirks due to having a mild form of ADHD (only discovered while working in London). Beyond her quirks she just radiates good humor and a charm all her own. She also has a habit of going blonde on occasion but she explains its just for fun (and the doctors see she is just acting 23 so no harm done). She is also one of the staffers easily able to befriend younger patients due to her good humor and personality (sometimes she'll play a computer or card game with them and has been known to bring her Welsh Corgi Ein to visit). But there is part of her still looking for the family she never had as a kid.
history: Edward Tivrusky is a recent newcomer to Cheshire due to starting graduate work ar a nearby university (on full scholarship). Before that she really has no idea of her past, landing in an orphans home when she was a kid and not being able to find out much about her past. That was when she found she has a talent for computers and taught herself various programs and how to also fix them (her first job during HS being at a Best Buy in Phoenix).
She easily breezed through school, her skills with computers just rubbing off into her everyday life. But even as a kid Ed was always a little bit off kilter, but at the time most figured she was just a little kooky and since it was harmless she was left alone. Her quirks then ranged from speaking in the 3rd person (she still does this even now) to her carrying a software manual almost 24/7 (now its her I-Phone).
At the same time there was a gaping hole in her soul: she has no idea who her real family is or if they are even still alive. In the process and especially during the holidays that fact leaves Ed a little less happy but she can usually hide that fact from the world at large. That would also explain her occasional need to make a little family among the people around her: from people within the orphans home to coworkers to people around her.
After high school (she graduated at 17) she put college on hold to travel and hooked up with a crew of bounty hunters (Bebop crew) after helping them on a case. She became the team hacker (taking on the codename of Radical Edward) and struck around for the better part of the next year. The following year was pure adventure for Ed as she helped the team with various cases and did a bit of freelance IT work on the side (to help out and to feel useful at the same time). In the process Ed was able to make an unoffical family among the team and they also in time saw her as the goofy little sister (her boss at the time was the one who encouraged her to return to school after her planned year of travel was up and they are still in touch).
Ed only left the team to attend Oxford in England (having deferred admission for a year). Over the next few years while Ed dug deeper into her mystery filled past she attended school and was basically your normal college co-ed. During this period she also worked as a freelance hacker for the local police since she had made contacts during her days with the team. Sometime during her 3rd year of school Ed also took a job as the on call IT tech for a hospital near Oxford since the freelance hacker jobs were few and far between.
What suprises people is that in spite of her skills with computers she's not arrogant, she's very willing to lend a hand with everyone's tech problems and her candy bowl is always free to be picked through. Plus it never hurts that her puppy is very friendly and loves attention (she adopted Ein after one case led to an animal testing lab and the little corgi fell in love with Ed).
But when she started her IT job at a hospital in London was when she found out she has ADHD, which actually explains a lot once you look at her. She was briefly put on meds but that turned out to be a bad idea, the usually upbeat Ed replaced by a near zombie. So it was decided a happy and quirky Ed would be much better than the near zombie she had become. After the meds took a hike the happy Ed came back and she's working on those minor quirks that are a part of her illness.
But in the process Ed discovered since having her illness it gives her a unique insight into the problems of mental illness. That was when she became a double major in both computers and psychology, a combo some at Oxford was against. But that never stopped her before and the need to prove her naysayers wrong only fueled her drive to succeed.
The reason she gives for her transfer to Cheshire Crossing is pretty simple: getting accepted to grad school. Ed realized the only way she might get any answers to her past is to return to America, school just being one part of that puzzle. But as she took over the IT job (due to the prior holder moving out of state and suggesting one of his grad students for the job) she's quickly fitting in among the staff and quickly befrieding some of the younger patients in the process. She is also hiding the fact she is studying psychology along with computer science since at the moment she's unsure what the future holds.
The other reasons she left the UK are a bit darker: between a boss from hell at her IT job in London (he had basically been the one to force her onto meds to keep her job) and the loss of a member of the team from her days on the road (Spike in the anime) Ed decided moving back to America made more sense. But she also has too many good memories from her time in the UK so she has kept her resident alien status to allow for visits.
She also freelances with the local police as a white hat hacker beyond her job at CC. Her duties at Cheshire range from fixing computers for the staff and lending a hand with minor tech problems to befriending younger patients (very unoffical). Style wise Ed basically screams funky and quirky but with serious brain power so jeans and band tee shirts are the order of the day for her.
She graduated Oxford this past December with high honors with a degree in computer science/psychology and is about to turn 24.
Misc.: Drives a red Ninja motorcycle
Has a caffine habit as proved by the bottles of Pepsi
Can translate most dog barks due to her puppy, a super friendly Welsh Corgi named Ein. Ein made the move back to America with her and there's a little dog bed under Ed's desk along with a jar of dog treats.
Loves loud music while working and is willing to change the cds as requested
Traveled for a year between HS and becoming a student at Oxford, still has ties to friends in Japan as well as the United Kingdom
Has no idea what her birth name is, was given the name Edward as a kid and she added her middle names as a teen
Plays street hockey and loves a good game of pool
Note: Ed having ADHD has been noted within the Cowboy Bebop fandom but never confirmed.

cowgirl_edI start my new job tommorow!
I got the IT position at Cheshire Crossing and they have no idea I'm also doing my grad work in psychology. But then it may be for the best since this job usually does not explain why the brainy computer geek also knows a ton about ADHD among other things.
I'm just hoping people are nice and can accept the fact there is more to me than computers. Especially after what happened in London and my so called boss forcing me into meds to keep my job...
Ironic right? With what happened to me in England coming to mind I've got my reasons. Let's just put things this way: me and meds are not a good idea since I would rather be me with my quirks than a meek little robot. Add in losing a friend and the boss from you know where I had every reason to jump at the chance to come home. Plus I'm pretty hopeful I can keep the fact I even have ADHD under triple encryption.
But maybe now I can finally get some answers about my past and why I act the way I do...

(quick ooc note: Ed's ADHD is pretty mild but she can have her spazzy moments so her posts will refect her brain getting ahead of her now and then. But nothing to worry about!).
